Samsung Note 8 Features and Bixby

Bixby

The Galaxy Note 8 comes with Samsung's artificially intelligent personal assistant Bixby , which first launched on the Galaxy S8 earlier this year.

However, at the time of the S8 launch, Bixby Vision was the only AI technology enabled on the device. Now Samsung has launched Bixby Voice, which offers an experience much more akin to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

Bixby Voice allows users to control their smartphones using voice commands. There's a dedicated Bixby button on the side of the device, which you can press to call up the virtual assistant and then give it an instruction like "take a selfie", "show me the last photo I took", or "share this photo on Facebook".

It can also be used to open web pages, scroll through them, set reminders and control smart home applicances.

Users can create custom voice commands to use in place of a sequence of commands. For example, you can use the command "good night" as a shortcut for "turn on 'do-not-disturb' mode, set an alarm for 6am and turn on blue light filter".

To begin with, only a subset of pre-installed applications will be Bixby-enabled, but this set will continue to expand over time.

Features and Specs

The Note 8 has an IP68 rating, which means it is water resistant to a maximum depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes, and is protected from dust, dirt and sand without the need for extra caps or covers.

It boasts the same 10nm chip as the Galaxy S8, which Samsung claims enables heightened speed and efficiency. It also contains 6GB RAM and 64GB of in-built storage, expandable up to 256GB with a MicroSD card.

The Note 8 comes with a 3300mah battery, and offers a choice of wired or wireless charging.
